This was a call from an employee of "Merchants," the company that handles fraudulent charges for my credit union debit card. I determined that the call back number he gave was legit, after calling my credit union. There was in fact a problematic charge on my card. So, this call was not spam or phishing but legitimate.
This is the Telus / Koodo / Public Mobile voice mail retrieval number that your phone calls when you access your voice mail for the 226 area code, if you are a Telus or subsidiary company subscriber. If there are spam, scam or empty voicemails in your voicemail box they are not from this number. This is just your voicemail retrieval number. Look at the direction of the arrow next to the graphic of an old timey phone handset - if it points out, away from the handset graphic, then you called that number, they didn't call you.
